Leeds Festival 2007 won the Best Live Event award at the NME Awards 2008.

UPDATE: Tickets for this year’s festival will be available on 31st March 2008 at 6.45pm.
The line up will be announced shortly before tickets go on sale.

A recent interview with Melvin Benn on the BBC Entertainment website has revealed that we may be expecting three US acts as headliners for Leeds Festival 2008.

As announced on the official festival website:
After a nine year partnership Festival Republic announced that Carling will no longer be the headline sponsor or official lager of the Reading and Leeds festivals.
Following a successful long-term partnership, it was by mutual agreement that both parties felt the time was right to pursue new opportunities.

With the Caling Stage hosting nearly all of NME’s recommended new bands of the summer festival season over the three days alongside some exclusive performances from some of the most interesting names in alternative rock, organisers Mean Fiddler today revealed the line up as:

On Tuesday, 22nd May Mean Fiddler will be announcing the line-up for the Carling Stage at this year’s Carling Weekend: Leeds Festival.
Returning to the festival for the 9th year, the Carling Stage will yet again host the best collection of up and coming talent at the best live music weekend in the UK.
