Leeds 2010 headliner rumours

With just a couple of days to go until the Leeds lineup announcement, more rumours around the potential Leeds 2010 headliners are coming through.

Our friends over at leedsfest.org have this evening posted a Leeds 2010 line up rumour to their excellent Leeds Festival blog.

They’ve gone for these headliners:

Guns ‘N’ Roses
Arcade Fire
Blink 182

And they’ve also suggested that The Libertines will make a guest appearance.

It’s a line up that we’ve seen people post to our Leeds Festival rumours page and to Wikipedia over the last week or so.

Earlier this month we asked if Guns N Roses would headline Leeds 2010. And before that we posted about the possibility of Arcade Fire and Blink 182 headlining at Leeds 2010.

We’d like to hear your view on these three bands being the headliners.

Why is there no festival with any real variety? Download is just rock and metal as is sonisphere, leeds is just kerrangy and indie mainstream bands. the day i see cypress hill, amon amarth, brad paisley, PMMP, arctic monkeys, the prodigy and queens of the stone age is the day i next spend my money on a festival over spending money getting high. peace and love. listen to something new.

Guns and Roses didn’t play Download last year and I seriously couldnt tell you one song that Arcade Fire sing, they might be more popular than I realise but personally I dont think they are headliner worthy. Bands which are established and have a huge fanbase and have been around for a long time should headline. They will have the most fans (regardless of how old they are!). I’m not a Guns and Roses fan but I can appreciate that they were once a brilliant band and probably have a lot of fans. Blink 182 may not be everyone’s cup of tea but you can’t deny that they have oodles of fans (me included). Like I said before Blink are the main reason I am attending Leeds this year. Along with Paramore, Lostprophets, Youmeatsix and Weezer. Leeds is one of the only festivals that plays a variety of music – indie poser music (Cribs and Arcade Fire), Emo/punk music (Paramore. NOFX, Blink 182, Lostprophets), Crappy indie dance music (Pendulum and Enter Shikari and Dizzy Rascal). Leeds Fest is for music fans who have a variety of taste in music and are guaranteed a vast choice of bands. Leeds has only got better in my opinion (band wise). Joogle is right though – you will always get the whiney people who say that Leeds is pants. For everyone who has Leeds Fest tickets for 2010 and is looking forward to watching Blink 182 – I hope you’s all have a great time!

ive being going to leeds for oh soooo many years i dont really want to admit …. every year the same old ‘this band is shit’ …. ‘leeds is crap now ‘ yadayadayada…. look your not gonna love every band on and its practically a given that atleat one of the headliners will not be to your taste …. sooooo all this gives you time to wander round the smaller stages…. enjoy yourself , get intoxicated, have fun and if thats not your thing go to v and watch cheryl cole lol…..
and may i add , after reading all thee comments rhcp nooooooooooo they were absolute shite last time

  4. Young Money says:

Lil Wayne and Young Money please.

    Boosh

  5. Suze says:

well said bout GnR Mcfadyen. and i agree the other 2 bands are not worthy of headlineing.

  6. Mcfadyen says:

With the Libertines announced as one of the headliners, it looks like a year in the smaller tents and the comedy tent for me and my mate! We’ve been to Leeds every year since it moved to Bramham Park but this may well be our last year… No way are the Libertines worthy of a headline slot, neither are Arcade Fire (if that persistent rumour is true). And if GnR play then the festival organisers obviously didn’t learn anything from them playing at Download last year… I mean, what year is this? 2010 or 2004 or 1987?!

  7. Danny says:

Emma I couldn’t agree with you more! It’ll be a dam shame if Leeds have bands like greenday, blink, lost prophets etc, I dont think ill be buying a ticket this year if so!

  8. Joe says:

wierd that people are saying they want proper acts at leeds, and then saying they ant maximo park there…bit of a double negative.

im hoping pixies and system of a down. the rest is filler.

  9. Lisa says:

    forget them! CHERYL COLE please

  10. scotty says:

emma blink are not shit and kol played last year and i saw them so what would be the point in them playing again

  11. Lucy Murray says:

Thinks that Emma is a moron!!! Blink 182 are one of the best bands of this generation!!! They have probably inspired (in one way or another) the rubbish skinny jeans poser music which you like to listen to! Blink 182 will be the reason why so many people will be going to Leeds Fest this year!!! I can tell you now that this will be my first Leeds Fest experience!! The rumour of Blink 182 is enough for me to buy a ticket!!! As for Archade Fire?? Who are they? I can’t believed they headlined last year!! Having bands like Blink 182, Green Day etc will only make this festival more popular. We need a good variety music festival and Leeds Fest is it. Who just wants to listen to skinny jeans poser indie music? Not me!!

  12. Andy says:

the comment below is full of irony..

  13. Emma says:

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON’T have shit bands like blink 182, greenday or anything along them lines! I think leeds is a mint festival please DON’t ruin it by having music like this!! ……. You need to looking along the lines of KOL, Kasabian, Friendly Fires, White Lies, Florence and the machine, Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I must say V line up is gunna take some beating!!!

  14. tommy says:

    QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE

    STROKES

    FOO FIGHTERS

    eagles of death metal
    wolfmother
    the hives
    powderfinger

  15. chilis fan no.1 says:

PLEASE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS PLEASE

  16. Eddy says:

I reckon Arcade Fire would be good but they’re not big enough to headline and i wouldn’t fancy paying all that money if they were headlining…
Blink would be a good laugh and have got some good tunes
And as for Guns and Roses.. i know they’re big but Im pretty sure id be taking a look at who would be playing on the other stages.

Saying all this though, if The Libertines played i would definitely go would be fucking amazing!

Hopefully they pull out a shocker on monday, also how fast do tickets sell out?

  17. Matt says:

ok so its quite simple dont go – if you think guns n roses are nothing without slash you need to realise that it was izzy stradlin that wrote 95% of gnrs guitar parts – 02 best band at leeds, and for people that are actually looking forward to gnr expect an amazing set list montreal this winter best time theyve played plus ron thal and asba are better guitarists then slash, izzy stradlin and duff are to make guest appearances aswell as seb bach so all in all one hell of a headliner and like i sed dont like it dont go and actually allow gnr fans to get what will be there only uk appearances me for one will be doing leeds and reading on the days they play and blink 182 pretty good band to get on the bill as the middle audience for a festival will of grown up listening to blink 182 plus dont forget korn murderdolls and slipknot are strong rumours along with soad – arcade fire shite band headling second stage

  18. Tom says:

NME had an advert for the festival in this weeks issue and it said you’ll never guess whose back to play it – SHOCK LINE UP REVELEAD NEXT WEEK :)
these are my predictions it’ll be one of these i reckon :

    bloc party
    RHCP
    guns n roses
    blink

  19. ryan says:

i’ve been leeds for the last 6 years but if arcade fire, gun and roses are going to be the headliners i for one will opt out this year that is just pathetic for a festival like leeds, no wonder everyone is turning to V fest…

  20. Suze says:

if you want all the official sites your better off looking at the official leeds fest website, its up and running now and has all the information you will need.

  21. davelms says:

    Mark – no.

All the official sites are listed on our Leeds Festival 2010 Tickets page.

  22. mark says:

is this a genuine website where you can purchase the tickets for this year?

    www . vipblocktickets . com

  23. jmusicman says:

maximo park will be a soul reason for me going, hope and prey they are there. also id like to see eminem if that rumour is correct just so i could say id seen him. honestly never heard arcade fire, blink are for kids really and gnr are lost with out slash like tom c says, plus the fact that axel is dick. missed rhcp acouple of years ago. there is no chance of them doing owt so that sucks. cant wait for the line up to see who is really there, hope its not disapointing!

  24. TomC says:

Arcade Fire are FANTASTIC and i’d love to see them headline as well as Blink.
Although GNR are a great band, they are nothing without Slash.
Hope Maximo Park will be there because they were AWESOME last year!!!!!!!

  25. Joel says:

Blink 182 = YESSS amazing band!!!!
Arcade Fire = NOOOO not worth a headline spot!!!
GNR = It would be good to see them i spose

  26. Teee says:

    GnR are guff nowadays.

Libertines under Blur would be a quality night. I like Arcade Fire but are they big enough to headline?

Who do people think will headline the headline the NME/Radio 1 tent? Faith No More were awesome last year and whoever is there this year has a lot to live up to.

I’ll tell you who I hope isn’t there: The Cribs. I’m sick of seeing them, they are the Placebo of the crap indie world.

  27. davelms says:

Hi Hattie – tickets don’t go on sale until Monday 6.45pm. For an explanation of the capacity in which Viagogo operate see:

  28. jmusicman says:

who are arcade fire? blink are shit and gnr are practicaly dead(the one thats left any way)boo to axel. seriosly leeds needs to get a proper headline act. it gets worse every year! does any one know if maximo park will be there.
