When is the Leeds Festival 2010 lineup announced?
With speculation over who will appear at Leeds 2010 continuing on our Leeds Festival Rumours page the question now asked is when is the official line-up for Leeds Festival announced?
We all know that the launch event is aired live on BBC Radio 1 from 645pm… but on which day?
And with Leeds Tickets going on sale at the same time, finding out when the date of the launch event takes on extra significance for most music fans.
As we did when we were giving guidance on the likely cost of Leeds 2010 weekend and camping tickets, we’ve decided to go back over previous years as this will give us a big clue as to when the Reading and Leeds Festivals headliners will be revealed.
Leeds Festival Launch Dates (2003-2009)
In the last 7 years, the launch event for Leeds has taken place towards the end of March and always on a Monday. Line up announcement dates are listed below:

- Monday, 31st March 2008
- Monday, 19th March 2007
- Monday, 3rd April 2006
- Monday, 21st March 2005
- Monday, 29th March 2004
- Monday, 7th April 2003
Leeds 2010 Line Up
Every year we make a guess on our site at when the official Leeds Festival line-up announcement will be and we’ve usually been 100% correct (here’s our 2009 guess if you want to check back).
As you can see, the last Monday of March is a very popular choice. This year the last Monday is 29th March 2010. And while we can be pretty confident the line up will not be aired a week later on Easter Monday, we are still left with a small chance that the festival organisers will opt to make the headliners known a week earlier (22nd March).
That said, I think tradition will hold again this year and therefore our official Leeds Festival fan site guess for this year is that the Leeds Fest 2010 lineup will take place on Monday, 29th March 2010.

Yeah tickets run out really quickly. This, assuming I get a ticket will be the first time I’ve gone leeds, so I’m going to be waiting for AGES to get one
Are festival tickets in UK/Europe hot like they are in Australia? as in you have to get in when they just come on sale to be able to get one?
Hi Allan. Yeah, they have always done if that way. The official launch (line up announcement and ticket release) used to be at 7pm but in the last couple of years it has been at 645pm. But always at the same time.
Will they really annouce the lineup the same day tickets come out? Coz that kinda sucks…
The only thing I can see that will break this tradition is if the headliners are leaked early. Other than that there’s also the chance of a 22nd March announcement, but I’m happy to stick with 29th as my guess.
I’ll write a new article once the launch date is officially revealed (and I just hope that next year I get to reference this article … but if I’m wrong then … )
