When will tickets go on sale for Leeds Festival 2009?

It’s a question we get asked all the time! Finances are tight, and people need to ensure they have wages available or a credit card that isn’t maxed out… so when will tickets go on sale for Leeds 2009?

The truthful answer is: we don’t yet know. But each year we take a guess, because it’s always the hottest topic everyone talks about (aside from headliner rumours of course!)

The date that festival tickets go on sale varies each year. It used to be in April, but if the last two years are anything to go by then we’re probably looking at a March date. What we don’t know is whether 2007 and 2008 were anomalies or whether March is now to become the norm for event organiser Festival Republic.

In the past two years they have gone on sale on 19th March (2007) and 31st March (2008). The common theme is that for as long as I can remember – and well before the articles starting appearing on this current incarnation of the Leeds Music Festival website – the tickets have always been available on a Monday and always coincide with the line up announcement. Tickets generally go on sale at 645pm.

So where does that leave us (other than guesswork). If we assume March 2009, the Mondays are:

2nd March
9th March
16th March
23rd March
30th March

… and then there’s 6th April 2009 also, if the organisers push it back to April.

Unlike last year there’s no public holiday (Easter) to consider. So that leaves all Mondays open as viable options.

For now, I’m going to pin my guess against 30th March 2009. That said, I’m always wrong though so whatever I guess at is more than likely to be the wrong date! So what do you think, heard any rumours about line up announcement that would suggest a date? Anyone reckon that Festival Republic will break from the norm that is “Monday”?

“Sold Out” signs will go up after a few hours, but tickets will still be available to buy for the next 2 or 3 days as credit cards get refused and cancellations are made. It’s usually after a couple of days that tickets become really scare. But organisers will announce it is sold out in record time, they always do, even when tickets are still on sale when they make this announcement!! Coach & Weekend Ticket packages usually stay on sale for several weeks, so there’s always that option.

  10. Tom says:

Usually how long does it take for tickets to sell out?

  11. Jessie says:

it’s weird that the website isn’t even set up yet though, last years was set up months before the tickets went on sale ://

  12. anonymous says:

  15. Chris says:

They 170 last year, im guessing around 175 this year and then seperate early bird tickets so you can have an extra day camping for a tenner more.

    Its worth it

  16. Dave says:

Tickets are approximately £160 therefore £170 with the early bird ticket, i think anyway :P . Where is the official date released? Is it on the official website because currently it says Spring. -_-

  17. kez says:

i bought early bird tickets at last years price of £160 so god knows where ppl are getting them for £120., they usually go up bout a tenner every year

  18. fatty says:

people have already bought tickets for £120 so I dont think it will go up by march
I reckon having £150 saved up is a safe bet

I loved leeds last year best weekend of my life, I think you have to be at least 16 and go with mates to really appreciate it

  19. Nat says:

Anyone know how much tickets will be this year??

  20. Megs says:

Kids under 12 yrs are free, they dont have a wristband therefore have to stay with you through security, over 12 are same as an adult

  22. Lou says:

    Hi,

will be gutted if he is gonna cost the same as me!

    cheers!

  23. davelms says:

Was that page you saw info regarding 2008′s festival not 2009? a) because it was 31st March last year and b) the 31st March 2009 is not a Monday.

  24. Dan Pealing says:

I’ve read on a forum (http://leedsfest.org/) that the release date is 31′st March.
Thats when i’m aiming to have a silly amount of money in my account anyway.

P.s. I’ve just read on the above link that Greenday, K.O.L, and the Arctic Monkeys are all “having talks” with the festival organisers.

    Awesome.

    Hope it helps, Dan.
