Unsigned bands in Yorkshire have the opportunity to appear at Leeds 2010.

This evening organisers have announced that applications are now being taken for Futuresound 2010, the annual Battle of the Bands competition that will see 40 bands compete to win one of six places on the Leeds Festival stages.

The overall winner of Futuresound 2010 will play on the Festival Republic Stage at both Leeds and Reading Festivals and will also receive £500 in cash.

The five runners-up will also play at both festival sites, this time on the BBC Introducing Stage.

Bands and musicians interested in applying should complete the forms available on the Cockpit website. The deadline for entries is Friday 4th June 2010.

The Futuresound 2010 competition will take place at the Cockpit, Leeds in June and July.

There will be 10 heats, each featuring 4 bands, and each gig will be judged by an audience vote as well as three Leeds music industry judges.
