Leeds Festival capacity could reach 80,000 this year
How many tickets are sold for Leeds 2012?
The third of our short series of Q&A for Leeds 2012, we’ve asked: what is the capacity at Leeds Festival?
Alternatively, spin the question another way: how likely am I to be able to buy a ticket?!
We all know that the primary ticket agencies like Ticketmaster and official secondary fan-to-fan exchanges like Viagogo are extremely busy on the night of the Reading and Leeds announcement. Hands up who hasn’t experienced the “Server Busy” message on See Tickets!
But do you actually know how many tickets go on sale?
The capacity at Leeds Festival has – for many years – be held at a constant 65,000.
Last year the event organisers revealed plans to increase the capacity to 90,000 by Leeds 2014 and put the wheels in motion by raising the number of tickets for last year to 75,000.
It has been confirmed this week in the Yorkshire Evening Post that organisers Festival Republic plan to increase by a further 5,000 this year… but only if demand for tickets is high.
That would take the amount of music fans on site at Leeds each day to a massive 80,000.
At the time of writing, we’re not sure if all tickets will be made available on the night of the launch – for the primary agencies to sell – or if Festival Republic plan to hold back on some of the allocation to test the demand with a follow-up sale later.
Make sure you buy tickets from reputable approved sources only. We list the authorised Leeds Festival 2012 Ticket agencies on our site.
