The Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds Festivals last night scooped the award for Best Live Event at the Shockwave NME Awards 2007 ceremony in London.

Picking up the award, Managing Director Melvin Benn said, “This is the second year on the trot that we have won it and I am delighted. It is the best festival, it has the best bands and it has the best fans so why shouldn’t we? Thank you so much for everyone who voted for us. Everyone at Mean Fiddler is delighted.”

Last nights award makes it a hat-trick of awards for the Leeds Festival, having already won the Nokia ‘Best Live’ award and CIC ‘Best International Festival’ awards.
