Tickets sell out!
Festival Republic, promoters of the Reading and Leeds Festival, have confirmed that all weekend tickets for the event have sold out in record time. A total of 200,000 tickets sold in 2 hours marks this year’s tenth anniversary for Leeds and twentieth for Reading as an extra special event.
The UK’s only three day, dual site festival is headlined this year by Rage Against The Machine, The Killers and Metallica with a host of exclusive performances, huge names and the coolest up and coming bands over six stages.
Melvin Benn, Managing Director of Festival Republic said, “’I am over the moon! Absolutely thrilled. 20th year since we took over Reading after it had been bankrupt. 10th year since we created Leeds. The UK’s biggest selling festival with the best bill on the planet this year sells out in less than 2 hours. Whoever is talking about a slump in festival popularity is talking rubbish. Long live Reading and Leeds!’”
Keep your eyes peeled for further announcements to the bill and get ready for the greatest rock n roll show on earth over the August Bank holiday.
[our comment: as many of us know and could verify, normal weekend tickets were still on sale through to around 72 hours later, as were the extensive Coach packages which had significant availability. So although most tickets had gone, it wasn't actually sold out in 2 hours.]
