Tickets Advice: don’t panic!
Although official announcements suggest that tickets sell out ‘within minutes’ or hours there are ALWAYS tickets to be purchased…
- Throughout the first 48 hours after the launch, ’sold out’ signs will go up and down at the main ticket outlets like See Tickets. Just because it says ’sold out’, do not stop trying as tickets are never truly sold out at these stores for at least a few days. One reason for this is when purchases are cancelled due to the credit card payment being refused.
- Why not travel by coach!? Coach & Weekend Camping tickets often take the pressure off working out how to actually get to and from the site. These tickets go on sale after the main release of tickets and include a coach ride from all the major towns and cities in the North of the UK. Depending upon your starting location, they never usually sell out until late in the summer.
- Go to a HMV store! Tickets are HMV stores go on sale from 1st April 2008, so if you miss out tonight then pop down to your local HMV store tomorrow. Remember to take your ID with you. Tickets never usually sell out straight away at HMV either, and some stores have tickets for several weeks.
- Buy Day Tickets! Day tickets are usually available all summer, and in some years they have been available on the door… so if you fail to get a weekend camping ticket, you can still get to see some of your favourite bands.
In summary: don’t panic. Work with friends, try the internet and phone lines, and you’ll be OK. We’ve got direct links to ticket outlet pages on our Festival Tickets page.

when are the next batch of tickets being sold online?
31 March 2008 | 22:07
They did another “batch” in a previous year, but I cannot remember if they did it last year. So there’s no guarantee they’ll do it again this year.
For the initial “batch”, they’ve been on and off this evening. See Tickets has already been switching between “sold out” and “available” and this is likely to continue for at least the next day or so as they work out exactly how many they have sold (and payment has been confirmed) and what else they have free to sell.
Tickets go on sale in the morning at HMV stores as well, so if you didn’t get one tonight (and you don’t want to keep hitting refresh while See Tickets put more on sale) then pop down to HMV.
Coach packages were listed today as well, but I don’t have the link at the moment.

do you think tickets will still be online this week?
thanks!

Tickets have been available in previous years well past the point that organisers make their ‘its all sold out’ announcement.
There still appears to be Coach Travel tickets for sale, which is usually the case for a number of weeks. All locations still seem to have availability. And it sorts out the ‘how do I get there?’ problem too - once you’ve considered train/bus/petrol costs from your hometown, it’s usually a good option.
And you may be right, further batches have been made available in previous years.

i asked a few people who have been twice b4, and they said that there usually is a second batch of tickets.
i hope so, as i dont have the money at the moment, but really want to go.
how will i know the next date for the next sale (if there is one) any ideas?
thanks again.

I don’t remember them putting another batch in 2007, but they certainly have done so in the past so it could happen again this year. If it gets announced, then we’ll post about it on this site.

i didnt manage to get a ticket before all the major ticket sites sold out and tickets on ebay are selling for around £200 to £250 which i pretty expensive!
is there going to be a second batch of tickets going on sale and if there is, when?
1 April 2008 | 20:14
@ Kat - please read through the earlier comments on whether there will be ’second batch’.
For everyone, tickets have been available throughout today. As I posted on this thread the ticket outlets put their ‘returns’ on sale so never ’sell out’ for at least 48 hours. And I know people who have bought them today. Ticketmaster had a number of such returns available for sale and were selling them between 7 and 730pm this evening (from my records I can see this happened). And See Tickets have sold a few to visitors from this site (they told me so this evening). This pattern repeats for the first two days until the last tickets are sold. I would expect that the main ticket outlets like See Tickets and Ticketmaster will continue to sell them tonight and for some part of tomorrow before they quieten off. While it’s now 24 hours on, and the numbers will be low, you just need to keep trying if you really want one.

And a number of weekend camping tickets are still available for those that are willing to travel on an official coach (as I wrote above)… read here for more:

hey does anyone know if http://www.leedsfestival.net is a trusted site to buy off?
3 April 2008 | 17:33
It’s a secondary market re-seller (tout). Personally, I wouldn’t.
5 April 2008 | 16:30
Do you know yet for sure if there will be a second batch! if so when!!!!!
5 April 2008 | 16:32
Also can i buy tickets on ebay. But they won’t be registered to me so will that be checked at the festival and so maybe not let me in?!?
5 April 2008 | 16:33
If they claim they sold out 200,000 tickets, that’s probably close to the full capabity of both sites combined. If they do release another batch it will probably be in the order of low thousands, but at the moment I have no idea if they will.
They didn’t last year.

Re: ebay (and other touts)… there’s contradictory messages coming out of Festival Republic. On the one hand they are saying that you won’t get in if you buy a ticket on the secondary market because it cannot be transfered (i.e. they are hinting at some kind of checking system). On the other hand, they recommend Scarlet Mist as the ticket market site of choice. Which would suggest they are happy that tickets are transfered from person to person. The official statements are contradictory, so I don’t know.
Personally, I wouldn’t buy from eBay. You’ll end up paying far over the odds, and the best advice would be to wait until later on in the day. Don’t rush in and panic and pay hundreds for something you can get your bands on cheaper later in the summer. For example, on my forum http://www.leedsmusicforum.co.uk, people have sold tickets in previous years at face value during the last week/days before the festival.
If you DO decide to buy on the secondary market, choose a site like Scarlet Mist which ensures you do not pay over the top for your ticket…

They did put on another batch of tickets last year as I bought mine out of it. I don’t know if they will do the same this year but definately did last year.
7 April 2008 | 17:28
Thanks Amy. I never got the press release about it last year. I did get notification the year before in 2006 though, but not for 2007 (hence why I didn’t think they released a second batch).
